Trauma keeps your body braced — even small moments can feel explosive

Trauma can make everyday stressors into triggers.

How to Know when it’s Traumatic Stress?

Common Symptoms of Traumatic Stress:

  • Unwanted memories, flashbacks, or nightmares that bring the event (or events) back

  • Feeling constantly on edge, jumpy, or easily triggered by everyday things

  • Avoiding places, people, or situations that bring up painful memories

  • Feeling emotionally numb, disconnected, or detached from yourself or others

  • Harsh self-criticism, guilt, or a sense that the world is unsafe

  • Sudden mood changes, irritability, or anger that feels hard to control

  • Difficulty sleeping, staying asleep, or focusing during the day

  • Ongoing tension, aches, or physical discomfort without a clear reason

Diagnosing Trauma Related Concerns:

We start by getting to know you and how past experiences may be affecting your thoughts, emotions, and daily life. Through a compassionate and collaborative assessment, we explore whether symptoms like feeling on edge, avoiding reminders of what happened, or struggling to connect with others might be signs of unresolved trauma or stress. This understanding helps us create a personalized treatment plan that supports your healing and sense of safety.

Treatment for Trauma

We provide evidence-based therapy for traumatic stress that is tailored to each client.

At Welcome in Psychology Group, we offer compassionate, evidence-based treatment for anxiety for adults (18+) to increase hope and improve well-being.

Living with the aftermath of traumatic events can drastically change how you think and feel and how you connect with others. You might notice constant alertness, difficulty sleeping, intrusive memories, emotional numbness, or avoiding reminders of what happened. These responses make sense in the context of traumatic events—but they don’t have to define your life.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a highly effective, evidence-based approach that helps you examine and reframe unhelpful beliefs tied to traumatic events, so you can feel safer, more present, and more in control. With support, you can move forward—at your own pace, and on your own terms.
